December 2015 - Our major project at Ford in Dunton continues well...

After successfully being awarded the start of a major new investment from Ford to install a fully compliant L1 Fire Alarm system to ford's Dunton technical centre just last October BDS have completed the first Phase of the project in just three months. The Phase one contract has been coordinated by combining both our in house Fire alarm division based at Fords and our sister company BDS-EFM providing labour to carry out the first fix under the joint supervision of Tony Watts Projects Director and Technical Director Mitchell Blyde. Due to our extensive in house knowledge of the site we were able to meet the tight deadlines set to enable the Fords Christmas shut down period and thus enable BDS to proceed with phase two within the new year. These nice words from Ford (on another project for them) have made our year end well...

September 2015 - JP Morgan Bournemouth...

BDS have been awarded the grange hotel minories

Bespoke Detection Services Ltd had recently been asked to supply and install a temporary fire alarm system to cover the fit out areas within Hampshire & Dorset Buildings at the JP Morgan Campus in Bournemouth

The client was concerned about false alarms etc. and therefore requested that the temporary system not be connected to their existing system but the 24 hour manned security office still needed to be informed when there was an issue. This created a problem as there was no accessible cable route from the construction area to the security office. After consultation with our client we proposed a wireless link between the buildings. The construction areas were covered by using two EDA Zerio fire alarm systems with radio smoke detectors, sounders and Breakglass units and these were linked to a F-Link Scope Pager System which in the event of a fire in Hampshire or Dorset Building the F-Link with its high signal strength enables a signal to be sent to the security team on site prompting a quick response

On a much lighter note Kevin Blyde (BDS Managing Director) and his son George have been involved in an interesting project... Abbey Wood Primary School set their teachers a challenge during the summer to come up with a way to encourage their children to read more. The plan was relatively simple, build a reading area (with a school donated £50 budget) where the children that had done well during the day could go to, choose a book and enjoy reading it in their 'special area'. Amazing what you can do with Fifty Quid, an old pallett and some paint...

August 2015 - The children are on holiday and once again BDS are busy in the education sector making sure that school fire and life safety systems are properly maintained, and all in good order...

BDS have completed the Enhanced design, supply, installation, commissioning, witness, demonstration and handover of a Notifier ID3000 fire detection and alarm system within the newly built Henry Ford College at Daventry

Ford is building a new training facility on its existing parts distribution site in Daventry, Northamptonshire. The new entity will merge the functions of the Technical Training Centre located in Daventry and the Henry Ford College in Loughborough. Loughborough provides training for technicians, sales staff and management throughout Ford's national dealer network. It will deliver courses to adult learners up to Diploma and Masters Degree level, as well as students taking the successful Ford Masters Apprenticeship programmes.

The building will include classrooms, a 200-seat auditorium and a vehicle showroom area, in addition to a lounge and large restaurant. The interior and exterior of the building will follow the design and style of the new-look Ford dealer showrooms, including "Hello" and "Relax" areas in the reception. Jon Wellsman, director, Ford Customer Service Division, said: "It is important that our dealer teams receive the highest quality technical and product training. This world-class new facility will enable us to do just that."

June 2015 - BDS installs FAAST in 100 year old St Lukes chapel...

BDS have been awarded the grange hotel minories

The beautiful 100-year-old chapel in King's College Hospital, London, is now being protected with FAAST aspirating smoke detection technology. With aesthetic considerations a high priority, our FAAST LT panel has been installed out of sight in the loft above the vaulted ceiling of St Luke's chapel. A network of four barely-visible capillary pipes runs down from the panel into the chapel to monitor the air and give the earliest possible warning of fire The FAAST panel is networked to the Morley-IAS system which provides fire protection to the entire hospital. Connection to the Morley-IAS system was achieved by extending an existing loop circuit below the chapel up into the roof space. The chapel, which is on the first floor of Cheyne Wing and is used every day for acts of worship, previously had no dedicated fire detection The installation of the FAAST technology was undertaken by Surrey-based Bespoke Detection Services, a Morley-IAS customer. It was part of the major upgrade of fire protection being conducted by BDS across the entire hospital campus in Camberwell

"The chapel is a space where aesthetics are a real consideration and not conducive to the use of point detectors on the ceiling," said Neil Buckfield, BDS operational accounts manager. "FAAST was the obvious choice for us, as its technology is barely visible to anyone using the chapel and its detection is second to none. It was a very easy and painless installation."
